For nearly two decades, Seth Rowlands has dedicated his career to serving and protecting the people of Galveston County.

​

A 19-year veteran of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Seth has served in nearly every facet of law enforcement—from corrections and neighborhood patrol to school safety, major criminal investigations, SWAT operations, and executive leadership. Along the way, he has earned a reputation for steady leadership, sound judgment, and a commitment to the community he serves.

Today, Seth serves as Captain of the Safe Schools North Division, where he leads a team of 47 Galveston County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving 45 Clear Creek ISD campuses. In that role, he works closely with school district leadership, emergency management officials, and local police departments to coordinate school security and prepare for critical incidents. He also oversees tactical resources and emergency-response planning designed to protect students, educators, and staff.

Before becoming Captain, Seth spent six years as a Major Crimes Detective Sergeant, investigating some of the most serious offenses affecting Galveston County, including homicides, robberies, burglaries, sexual assaults, human trafficking, and the online solicitation of minors. His responsibilities took him from crime scenes and interviews to the courtroom, where he testified and presented evidence in criminal cases.

Seth also spent a decade as a member of the Special Operations Group (SWAT), responding to critical threats to public safety, serving high-risk warrants, resolving barricaded-subject incidents, and helping organize and supervise tactical training.

​

He holds a Master Peace Officer Certification and has pursued advanced leadership and tactical training throughout his career, including Basic and Advanced SWAT, Advanced Hostage Rescue, Tactical Combat Casualty Care, and instructor certification. He has also completed the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy and the Texas Police Chiefs Association’s Developing Leaders for Law Enforcement program.

From patrolling neighborhoods to investigating major crimes and leading deputies responsible for the safety of thousands of students and educators, Seth’s career has been built around service, leadership, preparation, and accountability.

For Seth Rowlands, public service isn’t a campaign slogan. It’s the work he has been doing for nearly 20 years.

He and his wife have, Amanda, have been married for 18 years and live in League City with their 3 daughters.
